WHAT RKIDS (LITTLES, BIGS, & JUNIORS) ARE LEARNING THIS MONTH:

RKIDS will read from 1 Kings & 2 Chronicles to learn about Solomon, the wise king.

SERIES OVERVIEW:

King Solomon is best known for his wisdom and for building God’s temple. Thankfully, he passed on his wisdom so others could have a strong foundation for building up their faith. In this series, kids will hear from Solomon and the wisdom he shared about the kind of life God wants to help us build. They’ll see that God gives them directions to follow, listens to their requests, is worthy of their worship, and gives them true wisdom.

JANUARY MEMORY VERSE: James 1:5:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Week 1: January 3rd & 4th :This week, kids hear about how Adonijah tried to become the next king.

BIG IDEA: God gives us directions to follow.
BIBLE: 1 Kings 1:5–14, 29–35

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS:
Who was supposed to be the rightful king after David?
Where can we find directions from God?

Week 2: January 10th & 11th :This week, kids hear about how Solomon became king and asked God for wisdom.

BIG IDEA: God listens to our requests.
BIBLE: 1 Kings 3:1–15

What are some things that we can ask God for?

Week 3: January 17 th & 18 th :This week, kids hear about how Solomon built a temple to worship God.

BIG IDEA: God is worthy of our worship.
BIBLE: 2 Chronicles 5:1–14

What did worship look like in and around the temple?
What are some ways you love to worship God?

Week 4: January 24 th & 25 th :This week, kids hear about how Solomon used wisdom and compassion to settle a dispute between two women.

BIG IDEA: God gives us true wisdom.
BIBLE: 1 Kings 3:19–28

This will be Week 1 of our churchwide Generosity Practice. RKIDS will follow along with what the adults are learning by going through age-appropriate lessons on generosity.
