“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
      Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!”

Psalm 100

BEFORE YOU AUDITION…

We are so thankful you are interested in partnering with the worship team at Restoration Church. We know that auditions can be an intimidating experience but please know that we want you to feel comfortable.

If you are currently involved at another church, we ask that you stay committed to that church. We highly encourage you to stay committed with the people you are following Jesus with.

Below is a pre-audition form that may help both you and us know if this is a good fit and something for us to pursue together.

We look forward to meeting you and hope you have a great audition.

AUDITION SONGS

1. We Praise You, Bethel Music: Revival’s in the Air

2. I Believe, Phil Wickham: I Believe

3. Goodness Of God, Bethel Music: Victory

  • 63 bpm

4. Gratitude, Brandon Lake: House of Miracles

Audition Tips

  • Please be fully prepared for your audition, knowing your parts on all four required songs. (above)

  • We play from chord charts, never from scored music

  • We use the Nashville number system often for musical transitions. Musicians, please be familiar with this system.

  • We are looking to see if you can learn your part from listening to a recording.

  • Don’t overplay – There is no need to shred, drum solo, or slap bass

  • Be able to receive direction/criticism, even if you don’t agree with the suggestion

  • Be prepared for spontaneity. Musicians and vocalists need to be skilled enough to follow. We don’t want to limit where we can go musically simply because we can’t handle it musically.

ELECTRIC & ACOUSTIC GUITAR

  • Pay attention to your tone and pedals – delay and overdrive – making sure that they line up appropriately with the musical style of RC. We don't use effects like chorus or flange very often if ever.

  • Stick to lead or rhythm for the entire song – don't alternate unless asked

  • Know how to use a capo

  • Pay attention to strumming/picking patterns.

BASS

  • Lock in with the drummer, paying attention to kick-snare pattern

  • We will look to see that you know your patterns/parts even though you are auditioning without a live drummer

DRUMS

  • Lock in with the bassist, paying attention to kick-snare pattern

  • We will look to see that you know your patterns, even if you are auditioning without a live bassist

  • You will play to a click track

KEYS

  • Familiarize yourself with sounds other than piano (e.g., pad, organ, Rhodes, etc.)

  • Think simple. Avoid overplaying, especially with the left hand

  • Some songs have specific parts – know these parts rather than just chording

VOCALS

  • In your audition, you will be expected to sing the lead vocal and harmony parts.

Sometimes songs do not have a clear harmony part. We want to see your ability to find these parts or work to create them. Please know lead melody and harmony parts for the entirety of each song.

  • Pay attention to timing and style of vocal movements on the recordings

  • Keep vibrato to a minimum

  • We currently do not have a choir, due to space, but may add one in the future.

ADDITIONAL
INSTRUMENTS

  • While we normally play with the above listed instruments, on occasion, we incorporate additional instruments, usually for special events/services

  • Play like part of the group – beware of overplaying
