We are so thankful you are interested in partnering with the worship team at Restoration Church. We know that stepping into a new volunteer team can be an intimidating experience but please know that we want you to feel comfortable.
If you are currently involved at another church, we ask that you stay committed to that church. We highly value the local church and encourage you to stay committed with the people you are following Jesus with.
Below is a pre-audition form that may help both you and us know if this is a good fit and something for us to pursue together.

Skills for a Sound Tech Volunteer:
Basic Sound System Knowledge
Understand how to operate mixers, microphones, amplifiers, and speakers.
Ability to balance sound levels for live music, vocals, and speaking.
Familiarity with signal flow from source (microphone/instrument) to speaker.
Audio Mixing Proficiency
Ability to mix multiple audio channels simultaneously (instruments, vocals, etc.).
Familiarity with equalization (EQ), gain structure, and compression.
Experience with adjusting sound levels during live worship (dynamic mixing).
Technical Troubleshooting
Problem-solving skills to address issues like mic feedback, poor sound quality, or technical malfunctions during a service.
Ability to quickly assess and solve problems under pressure.
Digital Soundboard Operation
Familiarity with digital mixing console (e.g., Behringer, Yamaha, Allen & Heath).
Understanding of digital effects processing (reverb, delay, etc.) and routing audio to various outputs (mains, monitors, livestream).
Live Sound Engineering
Experience with live sound environments, including managing the acoustics of the worship space and ensuring clarity of sound for both music and speaking.
Ability to set monitor mixes for musicians and vocalists on stage.
Wireless Microphone Systems
Knowledge of operating wireless microphones, including battery management, frequency settings, and troubleshooting interference.
Stage Setup & Breakdown
Familiarity with setting up and positioning microphones, instruments, monitors, and other sound equipment.
Ability to run cables and ensure the stage is organized and free of clutter.
Teamwork & Communication
Work well with worship leaders, musicians, and other team members to create the best possible worship experience.
Clear communication with the worship team before and during the service to address needs or changes.
Multimedia Integration
Experience with integrating audio for livestreaming, video playback, and multimedia presentations (ProPresenter, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to sync audio with video if required.
Willingness to Learn
Eagerness to develop new skills or adapt to new equipment as technology or church needs evolve.
Receptive to feedback from the worship leader and other team members.
Sound Tech Volunteer Expectations:
Punctuality and Availability
Arrive early to set up and conduct sound checks before rehearsals and services.
Commit to serving on a regular rotation (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) or as needed for special events.
Stay through the end of services to manage breakdown and store equipment properly.
Preparedness
Review worship setlists and service outlines in advance to anticipate audio needs.
Ensure that all necessary equipment (microphones, cables, etc.) is ready and functioning before the service.
Flexibility
Be adaptable to last-minute changes in the order of service, such as additional microphones for speakers or adjustments for special elements (e.g., guest musicians or video presentations).
Respond calmly to any unforeseen technical issues during the service.
Attention to Detail
Ensure audio levels are balanced for a consistent and distraction-free worship experience.
Maintain awareness of transitions between different service elements, such as prayer, speaking, or musical performances, to make necessary audio adjustments.
Spiritual Maturity
Understand that the role is an act of service in worship to God, requiring a humble and servant-hearted attitude.
Maintain a heart for creating a worshipful environment and not being the center of attention.
Confidentiality & Discretion
Maintain privacy regarding internal church matters or sensitive discussions overheard on stage or backstage.
Commitment to Safety
Practice proper handling and care of audio equipment to ensure longevity and avoid accidents or damage.
Adhere to electrical and safety protocols when dealing with cables, equipment, and stage setups.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in ongoing training or workshops provided by the church to stay current with evolving technology and best practices.
Seek to improve mixing and sound engineering skills through feedback and self-initiated learning.
Reliability
Communicate proactively if you’re unable to serve on a scheduled date, ensuring another team member can cover your responsibilities.
Take responsibility for the quality and consistency of the sound at every service.
